Winter Blues
February 4, 2013As the evenings start
to draw in and the weather gets colder many people experience a drop
in their mood. They may have less energy and motivation, notice
changes in appetite, feel tense and generally feel a bit low. This
is extremely common and recognised by scientists to be triggered by
the changes in light levels and intensity at this time of year.
This is because our we need sunlight to release the chemicals
necessary for our brains to function well.
How can I help myself
Get some fresh air and sunlight every day, even if its just a walk round the block
Be kind to yourself
Exercise gets the blood flowing and can improve mood and energy levels
Talk to someone
Try and maintain a healthy balanced diet
Remember that what you are feeling is real, very common and that it will get better
Maintain contact with family and friends
Put time aside every day for you to relax, even if its just 10 or 15 minutes you'll feel the benefits
Still Struggling?
